Description
While serving as a Medical Tec. in Korea, quite often Kim, one of the Koreans that worked in our Aid Station, would tell me about a medical emergency in one of the villages. Kim and I would grab the medical supplies we needed jump in a jeep & head out to the village to treat the person. On this occasion as we were driving some distance from our base on what appeared to be more of a trail than a road, we passed a sign warning that no Americans should go any further. However, we continued on and came to this far out village and were greeted by all these smiling faces. I treated the Pap son for a severely burnt leg that had been wrapped w/newspaper. I gave him an injection in the backside and he was so thin that I hit the bone w/the needle. The people of the village thanked us profusely as we finished up and headed back to the base. This was during the year 1954.
